Sales Tax Settings Upgrade
Section titled “Sales Tax Settings Upgrade”Changed
Section titled “Changed”- Replaced the old TaxJar-specific sales tax setup with a simpler Sales Tax Settings workflow at
/taxes/provider. - Added Stripe-first invoice tax previews so supported Stripe invoice flows can calculate tax automatically before the invoice is created.
- Kept manual fallback rates and manually maintained nexus addresses as the source of truth for sales tax readiness, filing summaries, and deadline tracking.
- Fixed the old sales tax setup path that depended on storing and validating a separate TaxJar API key.
- Fixed nexus refresh so it now recomputes readiness from Eclipse sales data plus the nexus states you maintain in settings, instead of expecting an external region sync.
- Fixed invoice tax handling so unsupported automatic-tax cases, such as incomplete customer addresses or discounted invoice shapes, now fall back clearly to manual tax instead of pretending automation is available.
Why It Matters
Section titled “Why It Matters”Sales tax setup is now aligned with the rest of Eclipse’s Stripe billing flow. Teams can turn on automatic Stripe Tax where it actually works, keep manual fallback where it doesn’t, and manage nexus/readiness state without depending on a separate TaxJar connection.
Printable Accountant Packet
Section titled “Printable Accountant Packet”- Added a new printable Schedule C accountant packet that combines the full-year P&L, readiness checklist, Schedule C mapping, and the final attach-separately list into one PDF.
- Added direct packet download actions from both the Profit & Loss accountant tab and the Tax Export page, so side-hustle users can hand one packet to their accountant without hopping between reports.
- The packet is optimized for Schedule C sole proprietors and single-member LLCs.
- Source files like platform 1099-K PDFs, bank statements, and receipt images still stay as separate attachments; the packet now tells you exactly what to include.
